Join us in the empowering series, "Giving Up On Christmas," where we're not giving up on the spirit of Christmas, but rather shedding what hinders us from truly experiencing its joy. Last week, Matthew explored the theme of surrendering control—a powerful reminder that if it's beyond our control, surrender it. Today, we delve into one of the most significant struggles we all face during the holidays—letting go of conflict. Nothing dampens the Christmas spirit like unresolved conflicts. From pretending everything is fine to sulking in the corner, seeking fights, or recruiting allies, there are various ways we cope. Imagine a Christmas where we can truly let go, giving up the burden of conflict. Our goal is rooted in the desire for peace, a gift God wants to bestow upon us. Welcome to TheRoad sermon podcast! Today's message explores the life of David and how he faced different seasons, good and tough times. We'll focus on Psalm 34, a special psalm he wrote during a really hard period.
David's life had five main parts, from being a shepherd in Bethlehem to becoming the king in Jerusalem. But the most challenging time happened in the Cave of Adullam, where he wrote Psalm 34. Imagine him, feeling alone, hungry, and running for his life.
In the sermon, we learn that David found things to be grateful for even in tough times. Just like how we appreciate summer more when it's cold, David learned to value important things when life got difficult.
David talks about four things he was grateful for: God listening to him, God being bigger than his fears, God providing for him, and God protecting him. Even when David had almost nothing, he realized God was always there for him.
The sermon ends by inviting us to think about what we're grateful for in our lives. Just like sharing a tasty cookie, David encourages us to share the good things God has done for us with others. The message wraps up by inviting everyone to experience the goodness of God.
So, join us on this journey as we discover gratitude in tough times and find true satisfaction in God's goodness.

Sunday, November 12, 2023 - Powerful Women: Powerful in Prayer
Sunday Nov 12, 2023
Sunday Nov 12, 2023
In this series, we've explored the lives of powerful women in Scripture, including Esther, Deborah, and Jael. Today, we wrap up the series as delve into the story of Hannah, a woman powerful in prayer. These women faced circumstances beyond their control, but they understood the difference between what they could and couldn't control, which brought real power to their lives. Hannah, in particular, felt forgotten by God as she prayed fervently for a child. Powerful praying people are often misunderstood, and sometimes it's okay to be misunderstood when you follow Jesus. They realized that the best they knew was not the best there is, and they chose God's kingdom over their own. Our lives have a ripple effect, impacting others, and it's essential to choose God's kingdom over our own personal desires and ambitions.
