Sunday Oct 22, 2023
Do you ever think that you just suck as a parent? Well, you're not alone in this! In this message, we put the final "bow" on our parenting series, and what an incredible journey it has been! As we reflect on the invaluable lessons we've gained, it's imperative that we not only absorb this wisdom but also implement it in our own parenting endeavors.
In this message, Pastor Rick uses the analogy of archery to explore the challenges of the final stages of parenting: releasing and reflecting. He discusses common barriers parents face when releasing their children, including past parental control, fear of losing influence, and neglect of their own marriage. Pastor Rick emphasizes the importance of healthy and decisive release, highlighting that, eventually, children will leave, and parents need to be ready for this transition.
The message also touches on the power of prayer in navigating the challenges adult children may face and emphasizes the significance of trusting God and loving children regardless of their life choices. Additionally, it draws parallels between parenting and evangelism, underscoring the importance of faithfulness over success. Pastor Rick encourages parents to bless their adult children by affirming their positive qualities, reinforcing the idea that love and blessing can be influential in guiding their children on their unique life journeys.

Title: How to craft a great arrow.
Truth: Arrows are built not born
An arrow is made of 4 main parts: the point, shaft, fletching, and nock.
· The arrowhead represents purpose.
It is only when our children know their purpose, they will be able to live their purpose.
· The shaft represents faith.
The greater the faith in Jesus the greater the outlook on life our children will have.
· The fletching (feathers) represents character.
If our kids are not strong in Christ, they will be weak in flight.
· The nock represents relationships.
If you aren’t positioning your children correctly in life to be released well, they will fly off the mark.
A great arrow is crafted with precision, but it is proven with testing.
When our children learn to receive and understand our correction, it’s easier for them to receive and understand God’s correction.
